Getting your Arkansas disability claim started
You begin the process of pursuing a Social Security disability claim by filing a claim application with the Social Security Administration.
You can do this by either (1) calling 1-800-772-1213 for an appointment, or (2) completing your application online at http://www.socialsecurity.gov/applyfordisability/. See tips for applying for further advice.
The Social Security Administration will do some initial screening of your application, and then will forward it to the Arkansas Disability Determination for Social Security Administration, a local Arkansas agency that has a contract with the Social Security Administration to make the initial determination on disability claims.
